Mmm Hi

Couple questions,

Background info: Im trying to set up a home network, 4 PC's (one server, 3 others)

The server runs gentoo, at present, I have a 5 port router that handles my connection frommy cable modem. I want to get rid of the router, and turn the gentoo box into a router. Ive got all the nessecary cables, and an 8 port switch, and all the needed network cards too ;)

I have iptables and all that installed, I also have an IPmasquerading script I wrote a while ago, which will obviously do the masq part, but the following confuses me a bit.

1- I want to run bandwidth management - Any ideas what to use?
(I need to be able to limit the download rate to specific IP's)

2- Getting eth0 to accept a DCHP IP from the cable modem, is it as easy as
'iface_eth0="dhcp"' ?

3-Yeah, thats about it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks :D
