Hi
I am using now the 2.4.23 kernel. I would like to test the 2.6.2 kernel before getting rid of my 2.4.23 kernel.
With my actual kernel, i use devfs at boot time. I have read that with the 2.6.* kernel, udev is needed , and udev cannot run with devfs.
How do i have to manage to put both kernels in lilo [/etc/lilo.conf]?
How to make an own init to each kernel?
Thank you for the answers and help...

I use devfs with kernel 2.6. I haven't worried about it... yet. |

You can use devfs and 2.6 kernels. Udev will be a standard in next 2.7 series and is now in 2.6. for testing, even if it is quite stable.
You can have both 2.4x and 2.6.x running on your system. You only need to emerge module-init-tools and compile your kernel. |

Thank you for your quick answers.
Going on this idea, how can I have different inits with the same kernel, e.g a normal kernel boot , and a safety boot [like in mandrake for instance], in lilo?
any idea?
thanks again
