I have followed the printer install guide and i checked to see if it recognized my HP deskjet 940c printer on parallel port 1, and it does, but when I try to do
| Code: | | tail /var/log/messages |
I get an error saying that the directory or file does not exist. If anyone can help me correct this problem I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

Ensure that your log-daemon is running, and that it is in fact writing to /var/log/messages and not some other file. This thread might help.
