Hi,
i wish i had a digital camera to take pictures of this: the screen in my old lappy has gone bad - the lamp stopped working. This is normal, considering the lappy was made in 1997.
So i took the screen apart. This thing looks real neat inside . Ever wonder what the lcd looks like inside? well, at least i did .
Anyways, my questions:
- if anyone here lives in GTA, Ontario, Canada and knows where to dispose of the old computer equipment - plz let me know. The lamp has some mercury in it - so i want to do the right thing.
- another question: has anyone replaced the CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) before? Where would i get these things.
Yeah,.. and i ask these questions AFTER i took everything apart . I just couldn't wait:).
On related note, is it safe to run the lappy without the screen connected? then i could plug my desktop monitor into it to make a server out of this p166 lappy.
Thanx for reading,
keifir |

yep. Thx, this is great.
I found a retailer of lamps: Digikey.
They have the lamp for 18CDN. Not bad.
I just wish the manufacturers would make it easier to get to the lamp - i took apart the entire screen to get to it. Good learning experience anyway . |
