i might be horribly wrong but from one n00b to another, mozilla is the full thing, mail client, editor, and browser, while firefox is just the browser. I personally use the full client, even though i don't use anything other then the browser but say la vi.

in other words it's the same thing....

Code:
USE="moznoirc moznocompose moznomail" emerge -vp mozilla

This makes mozilla considerably lighter. To answer the earlier question, firefox is indeed a lean, mean, web-browsing machine. :lol:

firefox is newer than mozilla in the sense that the
project is not as old. and mozilla does have more
than firefox; a composer, mail client and irc.

firefox is not the same as the browser bit of mozilla,
though the idea is to replace mozilla, which can do a
lot, with separate programs - one for each function;
an email client and a web browser. i haven't heard
anything yet about a separate irc client or composer.

i think you were not wrong at all.

I think firefox is better. I tried to use mozilla again other day, but missed a lot of little interface features, like the ability to right click in a bookmark to edit it.

I used Firefox for a week and went back to Mozilla, it was all personal preference items.

1. In firefox I couldn't find a way to set the mouse scroll to a set number of lines.

2. When using Firebird (e-mail) it wouldn't open a new window in firefox like Mozilla does.

These were 2 of the main reasons I switched back to Mozilla, if there are fixes for these two issues I'd be glad to try them out as I did like firefox but couldn't live without these features.

Firefox is supposed to be a technology preview of the next version of Mozilla. One could use Firefox for browsing and Thunderbird for e-mail, and pretty much have all the functionality of the current Mozilla, minus the calendar. But I still prefer Konqueror for browsing.

And not to be a snob about it, especially since I don't remember a helluva lot about French, but it's really spelled 'c'est la vie', which actually means 'that's life'. :mrgreen:

Konqueror is nice, but I simply can't stand a browser without the ability to block ads and unrequested popups. :twisted:

It can block unrequested popups (at least since 3.2 IIRC). The reason I can't stand it is it's a dumb browser. It won't remember where I was when I shut it down. Session saving is integral to my browsing needs hehe :)

As to the original post, it would help if we knew what DE/WM you're running to recommend some cool stuff. That said, if you have a CD/DVD burner, K3B is really nice. Search the forums for some real nice lists. Things like "Top 10" lists always have a few hidden gems in them.

I have been looking for that option in the preferences but haven't found it.

I have been looking for that option in the preferences but haven't found it.

1 - "Settings -> Configure Konqueror -> Java & JavaScript"
2 - Now click on the JavaScript tab.
3 - Click on the "Open New Windows" radio button by setting it to "smart".

It's a round-about way to set something like this which should be a bit more prominent, or set to smart by default. But it's there.

Ha, thank you. I simply set the "mousewheel.withnokey" to "1" and "mousewheel.numlines" to "10" and I'm happy with firefox, thanks again.
