|
|
i went thru a stage2 install for my athlon-xp machine and everything was going perfectly fine until i tried to reboot....
i had exited chroot and umounted /mnt/gentoo/boot and /mnt/gentoo and then typed reboot...
it started to work and i got the gui gentoo screen with the logo and the bar filled up all the way, but then it spewed some error messages about permission denied and aborted the reboot...
i then tried to use various commands to see what went wrong, but every command i tried came up with "permission denied"....
i then gave up and gave it a hard reboot and when it started up it said my hostname was invalid, fsck failed, and root had no password...
any idea what's going on?
i'll post the exact error messages once i get home from school.... |

Maybe you forgot to change the root password with passwd? _________________ "Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today." |

i realize now why it didn't reboot properly. it seems that i foolishly tried opening the cdrom during reboot so as to boot with grub....
i am currently attempting a new install.... |
