I setup distcc on my desktop [192.168.1.8] and on my server [192.168.1.6] per the distcc guide (as well as ran the distcc-config, started the daemon, etc.), and when I run distccmon-gnome, it works alright, but it seems to only show what's building on localhost. Is it supposed to automagically show the server entry too if it starts cross compiling onto it?

Speaking of which, I have yet to see _ANY_ builds use distcc. What package out there is _guaranteed_ to compile across all my systems, granted I have distcc running [properly]?

Thanks!

No, the distcc-mon programs (there is a text version too) only show you what's being built on the current machine. As for what builds with distcc, pretty much everything except for X11 and maybe Mozilla that I've tried. I know Apache and PHP work with it, as I emerged them on a new box last night and watched with a "ps ax |grep distcc" on the other machine.

You might want to make sure you've got FEATURE="distcc" and the -j3 make flag set in your /etc/make.conf
