Using gentoo 2004.0, with vanilla-kernel-2.4.24, I have emerged nvidia-glx and nvidia-kernel - no problems.
Modprobe loads the nvidia module with no errors (lsmod shows it loaded), but starting X with the suitably adjusted XF86Config, results in X crashing and the following message (taken from Xfree.0.log)

anyone know what is wrong and what I can try to fix it? |
