Hi I'm using Kino for some Video Capture off my vidcam but the capture screen in Kino is too dark to view the movie properly, yet when I look at the Kino timeline still frames they're good and bright. It's the same for all the video players like Xine and Mplayer when I try playing movies I have to alter the contrast/brightness. What sets the default levels, is it in my XServer config? I've tried Kgamma, Xgamma etc. I have no problem with image files or any other apps/desktop brightness levels just video playing.

In xine, just hit the control button on gui and it will
give you a menu where you can adjust brightness,
etc. You can do the same in mplayer using 3 and 4.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I've been adjusting the brightness etc via the menu's for playback for a while now but that doesn't resolve why the playback is dark to start with or how to adjust kino so I can see what I'm capturing from my vidcam properly.

I've looked at adjusting the gamma but it didn't resolve the problem it just made changes to my whole desktop, not just video playback.

Regards
