What are the differences? I'm a bit confused.
Thanks,

vanilla is a pure linux kernel that linus trovalds releases on kernel.org. it is considered stable.
mm is vanilla-based kernel that andrew morton releases. it has a lot of experimental code and otherwise cool features. it is considered unstable, but can be stable for many.
love is a mm-based kernel that steel300 releases. it has even more experimental code than mm and has even more cool features. it is considered unstable, but can be stable for many.
I use both mm and love; both are quite good. But if you want an absolutely stable kernel, use the vanilla sources. _________________ what up |

-mm/-love includes fixes for vanilla, for example -mm includes a patch to make ppp compatible with udev and -love includes a patch to make framebuffer udev-compatible.
love rules ;p

but sometimes those "fixes" break other things, which is why they're not in the stable release yet |

The love and mm sources tend to include a lot of patching to make the kernel better for desktop usage. In terms or responsiveness, you'll tend to find it to be: love > mm > vanilla. _________________ Want Free games?

Is there somewhere I can find a list of the differences? _________________ Tell your ISP to support SPF/SASL AUTH (http://spf.pobox.com) today! |

Both the mm and love sources have changelogs that show what patches they apply.

Yeah, that's true; however, that's minimized these days as more and more desktop responsiveness patches roll back into vanilla. Still, there are many interesting patches in mm/love. _________________ what up |
