So first i'm under 2.4.23 kernel (wifi problems with 2.6). I've got a thinkpad t40p with a ATI Radeon 9000 mobility FireGL. I emerged ati-drivers and i can't get the 3d acc. I specified the fglrx driver in my XF86Config-4, i tried with switching opengl-update between xfree and ati, nothing work. I finally found some errors in my Xfree log file :
grep fglrx /var/log/XFree86.0.log:

I think you've probably got the ATI DRM option selected in the kernel. Look in the Character Devices section for the "Direct Rendering Manager" setting. Underneath it should be an "ATI Radeon" option. This either has to be disabled or compiled as a module but not loaded for the fglrx driver to work. Also make sure you're loading the fglrx module before starting X. Have you run "fglrxconfig" to create a new XF86Config file? _________________ Per Ardua Ad Astra
