madwifi wlan driver during install

I know that there is the madwifi-driver ebuild to compile the drivers after you have completed the install, but how would you use these drivers during the install? When I boot from the LiveCD, I can't use my WLAN card, but I can use my wired card. I'd like to use my WLAN card so I don't have 3 computers clustered in a small space for the entire weekend.
