I have two linux icons in rEFIt and I want to get rid of one of them. The two linux rEFIt icons I get are named "boot linux from HD" and "boot linux from partition 3". Both boot Gentoo correctly.
I think this happened because of some installation problems I had. I couldn't get rEFIt to see Gentoo, so I tried installing both lilo and grub. Eventually it worked and I removed lilo, but I'm still stuck with an extra icon.
As far as I can tell, the icons that rEFIt shows are not configurable. They are determined by what rEFIt sees as bootable on your system. I think what I need to do is delete the boot sector of partition 3, but I'm not sure how to do this. Could someone with a bit more experience with rEFIt and partioning a macbook pro help me out. How can I get rid of one of the rEFIt icons?

Nevermind, I figured it out. I re-emerged lilo and ran: This removed lilo from the 3rd partition and the icon stopped showing up in rEFIt. |
