I am not totally sure but if I remember correctly I had to compile Win4lin into the kernel and that fixed that problem. |

I had the same problem... until I found this: http://lists.altlinux.ru/pipermail/community/2003-June/088412.htm (in Russian!)
Now, I can't read Russian, but I guess it says that you have to
Code: | root# loadwindowsCD |
from the Windows installation directory, and then
Code: | root# installwindows |
I have to warn you about something, though. If you read the license, you'll see that

WHAT?? Spyware?? Boo! hiss! I don't think I'll bother installing win4lin...
By the way, I am using the win4lin-enabled kernel (win4lin-sources-2.6.5). |

You misinterpreted it, they're only reserving the right to come and check if you actually have a license for each installation. That's standard for a license agreement, if you install windows, then microsoft reserves the right to check if you own a license for each windows installation.
It *doesn't* give the software the ability to send them a packet informing them that you're a pirate or whatever. It's not spyware, just profitware. |

Maybe I misinterpreted it... It's just that I don't like the idea of my programs sending out info, just like everyone in this forum, and it's not so clear to me that the license does not allow them to do so. On the other hand, if this is standard as you say, maybe it's not such a big deal. |
