I have compiles alsa into my 2.6.4 kernel.
When I boot I have no sound but if I try to start alsa I get this:
Code: | ./alsasound start
* ALSA driver is already running.
bash-2.05b# !:0 status
./alsasound status
* status: stopped
bash-2.05b#
|
Does that make sense? What have I missed?
Thx Gentree. |

You can do a :
Code: | /etc/init.d/alsa zap |
This kill the lock file, so you can restart alsa after.
Please, pay attention that you can have some problem to stop / start the deamon under Gnome / KDE, because the system use alsa / oss modules. And if a modulke is in use, you cannot remove it !
Also, the sound must be enable, check it with alsamixer. |
