The two remaining things keeping me from deleting WinXP are Nokia PC suite and NetMD software.

Now i realise that netMD software for gentoo is nothing but a fantasy but what about Nokia. Is there any way to talk to my Nokia 6610 in gentoo?

I want to be able to sync it and get names and numbers off aswell as put ringtones and pictures on.

Anyone know of some helpful linux programs to do this?

i know two ways to do this, the first in installing Wine, and tweaking wines config files. Nr. 2 is installing vmware workstation, and run windows in a window inside linux. This may cause some problems(not unsolvable) with bluetooth and Irda, but should work fine if you are using the COM port to connect your mobile phone. BTW if you want to check if someone is working on a non-existing program you need, www.sourceforge.org.

yes vmware is in the portage tree, emerge vmware-workstation and vmware-tools, for an easy way to find out if your ptogram is in the portage tree, use the emerge -s(search) flag:
#emerge -s vmware

that should do the trick:=)
