|
|
I've got a software RAID 5 array (vanilla 2.4.23 kernel). My /etc/raidtab (setup with raidtools) looks like this:
Code: |
raiddev /dev/md0
raid-level 5
nr-raid-disks 3 # I have a 4th... will install this disk when I clear up this problem
nr-spare-disks 0
persistent-superblock 1
parity-algorithm left-symetric
device /dev/ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0/disc
raid-disk 0
device /dev/ide/host2/bus0/target0/lun0/disc
raid-disk 1
device /dev/ide/host2/bus1/target0/lun0/disc
raid-disk 2
|
If I bring up my system and raid-disk 1 or raid-disk 2 is not plugged in, it still mounts the array. However, if raid-disk0 is not plugged in, it gives me the error:
Code: |
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/md0, or too many mounted file systems.
(could this be the IDE device where you in fact use ide-scsi so that sr0 or sda or so is needed?)
|
During bootup, the init script that brings up my array says:
Code: |
Trying md0... modprobe: Can't locate module /dev/ide/host0/bus1
modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module block-major-101
/dev/md0: Invalid argument
/dev/md0 is not a RAID0 or LINEAR array!
* An error occurred during the RAID startup
* Dripping you to a shell; the system will reboot when you leave the shell.
|
Basically, this wouldn't do me too much good if I run into trouble and my first disk fails. |
