hia,
after fighting for days to install gentoo i manage to compile few kernels now, happily using the network i emerged xfree but after 14hours non-stop i havent manage to get neither Xeasyconfig nor the other xconfig tools to create a safe way for opening the X sessions. The Error:

(EE) R128(0): Cannot Read V_BIOS (5)
(EE) R128(0): No DFP detected

i have search google and there where messages form 2001 about this but no solutions, I have search for others peoples config files for XFree86 but nothing for a Power Mac G4 - AGP Graphics riscPMG4agp :
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=43103

please please any references, is there any other Xthing i could install and try??

best and thanks

I had the same error and this fixed it.

add the following line to the XF86Config-4

Code:

Section "Device"
Option     "UseFBDev"              "True"

I have an ibook. I used Xeasyconf too. I am not sure if it will help you.

hi,
I had the same problem and i couldn`t use X till i read the manual at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/desktop.xml . Shortly if you are a ppc user emerge xeasyconf then run Xeasyconf to configure your X.

I hope this will help you...
