user in games group but still when trying to run games i've emerged via portage i can't when trying to view the directory of the game i get
/usr/games/bin: Permission denied |

already tried that no changing at all ,so i checked the group file to be sure that the user belong to the games group and no problem their.
i'm a bit clueless on what cause such a problem (user in group can't view the files who belong that group). |

On my 2004.0 system (PIII-800 Mobility laptop, Radeon Mobility video) I found that I had to change both /etc/group and /etc/group- (the latter, I believe, is a shadow group listing).
That allowed me to run the games in /usr/games/bin/ -- however, they crash immediately upon startup.
If I run the games as root, they run just fine. Argh. I haven't run into this situation before. |
