Did you try alsa-drivers? Sorry, I have not read the guide you are referring to. I have fortissimo 2 and alsa-drivers, working most of the time nicely. I you would be more detailed about faults , then maybe I can help you. _________________ Greetings,

Hi,
I think that the muse xl is a cmedia 8738 sound card, which is supported directly in the kernel. Just recompile the kernel and choose the cmedia option under "sound". You can also choose the number of speakers and other custom options.
Let me know how it goes!

LibraMark is correct. i have this very same soundcard, and once i compiled it into the kernel, evrything went smoothly.
do you get sound as root or with no one? i remember having to make whatever user i wanted to use a part of the audio group.

I'm sorry to kick this thread but I have the same problem!
I have Gentoo-2.6.9-r6 as kernel, and I just putted a Hercules Muse XL in it. I installed "alsa-utils". But now I need to recompile the kernel because the chip is supported by the kernel?
So all I need to do is "genkernel -all" ?? |
