I've been wondering about that. From the very beginning, I pronounced it 'Ghen-to' whereas my friend pronounced it 'Jen-tew.' Others have called it 'Ghen-tew' and 'Jen-To.' I wonder what the developers have to say about its pronunciation.

I found this when I first started using Gentoo... kind of stuck in my memory
Quote: | How is Gentoo pronounced, and what does it mean?
A Gentoo is a species of a small, fast penguin, pronounced "gen-too" (the "g" in "gentoo" is a soft "g", as in "gentle"). The latin name of the Gentoo penguin is Pygoscelis papua. The name Gentoo has been given to the penguin by the inhabitants of the Falkland Islands. |
I guess in pratice I usualy say it a bit sharper though.. |
