I'm pretty new to Linux..I've been learning little bits and pieces of it since last November when I bought Red Hat, then a few weeks I installed Knoppix to my harddrive..then I found Gentoo..
Will I be able to install Gentoo over Knoppix, without damaging my WinXP partition?
How long does installation take and is it really complicated? I'm really new to this kinda stuff and I don't want to screw something up, or get in over my head... I just want a good, friendly distro where I can play games (Americas Army)..listen to music, program, etc
Thanks alot |

Well I can tell you from personal experience the following:
If you do a stage 3 install and dont run into any problems, which if you follow the manual you should not, it will prolly take ya a couple hours to get it up and running but most of this is compiling and emerging "do it and come back later when it is done".
As far as complexity if you follow the manual it is not very complex to get it up and running.
Unfortunately as far as games and stuff my knowledge stops since I didnt even emerge X
I am not too sure about installing it over Knoppix since I have not used it but I did once over a redhat install and did not have any issues. |
