I've played around at bit with both of them now, and I've ended up using superkaramba. The liquid weather and liquid calendar are neat, BUT they stay ON TOP of every window in KDE. When I run minimon in karamba it stays under, and so it also does when running it with superkaramba.
I recon there is a fix for this?

Yes, there is a fix. It's pretty easy to do (frustrating that it took a while to figure out) and it does work.

1. emerge superkaramba
2. once the package has been placed into the work directory in portage (but before any compiling begins) hit ctrl+z to pause emerge.
3. go into the work directory shown in the output from the emerge process when it was paused.
4. go into the superkaramba-0.33 folde and edit the file karamba.cpp; got to line that reads "KWin::setType(winId(), NET::Dock); and change it to read "// KWin::setType(winId(), NET::Dock);"
5. save the file
6. continue the emerge (using the command "fg")

Superkaramba should emerge without any more hassles and the always on top irritation will be a thing of the past.

Good luck with it :D

Hi! Very nice how-to you have bothered to write down!
However - I cannot find any karamba.cpp on my system.
I recon it was here it should show up?
Code:

/var/tmp/portage/superkaramba-0.33/work/superkaramba-0.33

Here's what I have:
Code:
AUTHORS       README          config.log           karamba.kdevelop
COPYING       TODO            config.status        karamba.kdevses
ChangeLog     acinclude.m4    configure            libtool
Doxyfile      aclocal.m4      configure.files      po
INSTALL       admin           configure.in         src
Makefile.am   autom4te.cache  configure.in.in      stamp-h.in
Makefile.cvs  confdefs.h      configure.in.in.bak  stamp-h1
Makefile.in   config.h        doc                  subdirs
NEWS          config.h.in     examples             welcomeform.h

Even a better plan... emerge x11-misc/superkaramba-0.33-r1 since it applies the patch for you. (I think its masked, so you'll need to put it in /etc/portage/package.keywords)
