I got myself a shiny new server that has a raid 1 scsi system which is hotplug enabled. now my question: can I just remove a harddrive on runtime an plug in a new one or do I have to somehow tell the system that I'm going to remove a harddrive? |

you really should tell the system that you are removing the drive. depending on how you do RAID, this will be different. _________________ Explaining the obvious to the oblivious.

If you have a scsi hardware raid, then the OS shouldn't even really care about it. I can live swap drives on my old PowerEdge 6100 and it will rebuild them on the fly and the OS doesn't even know. _________________ Inspiron 4100 & Sun UltraAXe
