I just installed gentoo, and I am not sure if I got hotplug / usbdevfs etc set up properly (although my USB mouse works fine in X). I am trying to make gnomad2 work to access my Creative Nomad Zen NX (mp3 player), when I start gnomad2 as root (as user it complains, probably some file permissions), it does see and access the player (and the players window changes to "connected logo"), but I get these messages in console:
---
usb_set_configuration: Operation not permitted
njb was not connected.
usb_set_configuration: Operation not permitted
njb was not connected.
usb_set_configuration: Operation not permitted
njb3_get_disk_usage: short read on USB data pipe
LIBNJB: Weird end marker of metadata chunk: 003e
Killed

and this in /var/log/messages

There are instructions on installing libnjp on their sourceforge homepage, but it only applies to their rpm, with some shells scripts etc, so having emerged the gnomad package, I am unsure what to do. Any help much appreciated!!

It seems to me that the Zen NX model you have isn't being recognized as one of the supported Gnomad models and thus Gnomad doesn't have an entry for it in usb.agent.
You might want to try reporting this in:
http://www.nomadness.net/modules.php?name=Forums
Often the gnomad developer reads the board and has been helpful in the past of getting new versions of the Nomad supported by the software. (The developer obviously doesn't go out and buy every new Zen that comes out, so in fact you would be doing him a great favor by posting your USB product code.)[/url] |
