I'm attempting a fresh, start-from-scratch installation on my Athlon-XP-based computer. I want to run the 2.6 kernel so I'm looking on the mirrors under "experimental", but all I see is a "hardened" version of the Athlon stage. I've looked in other places but it's always the same: the experimental Athlon, which I believe indicates the 2.6 kernel, is always specified as "hardened". Why is that? Anyone know? _________________ "If there are back-slashes in your path, you're heading down the wrong path ... backwards." |

Experimental in this case is refering to SELinux, i.e. hardened. You don't want to go under experimental; just get the regular sources. If you are following the docs you will get to the stage where you emerge your kernel: you will be able to choose what ever kernel you want including the 2.6.x kernel. _________________ It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish. -Mother Teresa |
