Hi, everyone, I compiled my own kernel (2.6.3), but I receive the message that the kernel is not compiled with DEVFS. Went through menuconfig, located Filesystems ---> and scrolled up and down (read the FAQ), but I did not locate the option "/dev file system support (EXPERIMENTAL)". Can anyone give me a hint on this (what am I doing wrong, kind of speach).
Also, in /dev/fstab, I have identified my dvd + burner according to the installation handbook, but when I try to mount the devices I get the message that they don't exist.
Can anyone help me. Been fiddling my brain for a long time now (actually for a month)...
thanks, gmtongar |

You can only select "/dev file system" when you activate "support for experimental drivers" (or something similar to that - don't know the exact wording) which is the first thing you can select when you configure your kernel manually.
The problem with your /etc/fstab might just disappear once devfs is functional as devfs is in charge of creating the device files. |

Hi, thanks for your reply...
Just checked the kernel configuration. The option "Prompt for development and/or incomplete drivers" is selected. Still theres no "/dev file system support (EXPERIMENTAL)" in the filesystems section.

File systems > Pseudo file systems > /dev file system support (OBSOLETE) |
