Hi!
If you have problems with the bootstrap script while installing SELinux 2004.0, this information (which also is stated in the manual) could be useful:
Use tarball stage 1.
Format /dev/hda3 in ext3 format.
I missed both these clues the first time I read the install manual, mainly because the first one was stated in the second line, while it should be repeated in chapter 8 when you read about what stage to start from. Who remebers one particular sentence read many pages ago??
The first time I tried to install I used ReiserFS because that's the file system I have used on other Linux systems. I am also familiar with the fdisk command, and mounting partions, so I almost skipped that chapter in the manual.
After starting all over, evertthing seems to work fine for me.
Good luck.... _________________ thanks,

Well, I have done everything else pretty similar so....
Before I changed my /dev/hda3 partion to ext3 I tried to start from tarball stage 1, but a similar problem in bootstrap occurred (check my previous posting in this forum: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?p=969111#969111 )
Changing to ext3 made the bootstrap go smoothly for me. Check a half page down below code-listing 6.10 in this manual: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/hardened/selinux/selinux-x86-install.xml
Quote: | Warning: ReiserFS and JFS are not supported in SELinux. |
Just thought it could be interesting for others to know or smart for other n00bs to find hints for possible solutions to problems, especially if you missed a few points in the manual...like I did.... _________________ thanks,
