hi there...all of a sudden gaim isn't using mozilla to open links for me. there used to be an option in the preferences to change which browser it would use and i've always had it set to mozilla. now that option isn't there. i have the latest version that portage has that isn't masked installed on my machine if that's any help. _________________ Spiral out. nope, it's still in gaim (at least 0.75-r10):
(from gaim)
tools -> preferences -> browser
set it to manual and use $your_browser_bin '%s' and everything should work _________________ If not me, then who?

that's what i thought, i didn't think they would have taken it out. but for some reason it's not there anymore!!! i have the same version you do, but it's not there. i re-emerged it, but it's still the same. one day the option was there, the next it's not. i don't know what's wrong, but at least the preffered application thing worked. _________________ Spiral out. I think that https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45415 should explain everything (I should've checked there more quickly).
Code: | # USE="-gnome" emerge gaim |
and the option should reappear (though if you continue to use gnome, it may be easier just to keep the preferred application preference). _________________ If not me, then who?

Yes if you have gnome in your USE flags when building, and you RUN gnome, then the Browser option will be removed and gaim will use the gnome default browser.
Note that the gaim team has implemented this differently so in 0.76 the Browser preference will always be present. |
