|

i completely love pornview! execpt when it breaks, like now... it was working yesterday, but today it doesn't work when viewing jpegs. the strangest thing is that i can still see the thumbnails of the jpegs, and PNGs though. I emerged pornview 1.5 and it works, but it outputs to the console:
Code: |
Improper call to JPEG library in state 205
|
This leads me to think that this is the same problem that pornview 2.0 has, it just isn't as verbose about it. Yes, i did re-emerge "jpeg" and pornview.
Any ideas!? _________________ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

the name isn't that nerdy, but it's a good application, and from where pornview have got their interface idea's and so forth.
you can also use gallery, if you want to access your pr0n remotly. _________________ Computer science is no more about computers than astronomy is about telescopes. |

thanks retribute,
but i just dont know... gthumb has a ton of dependencies... i would almost have to fully install gnome, which im not peticularly interested in doing. i guess maybe ill just stick with pornview 1.5
Any ideas why pornview 1.5 works, yet 2.0 doesnt? i know 1.5 has more depends...
thanks though man! _________________ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

hrm... so i emerged gthumb after all, it works and looks great. However it has the same problem that pornview has, it can't view jpeg images! It can view .PNG files and others just fine, but draws a blank with Jpegs
I am really stumped with this, could it be a problem with the jpeg library? i doubt that it is because firefox works just fine for me viewing jpegs _________________ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Do you have 'jpeg' in your USE settings? It's an IUSE in the pornview ebuild and if you don't have it set, it will build without support for jpg's.
Code: |
IUSE="avi gtk2 jpeg mpeg nls static"
DEPEND="media-libs/libpng
avi? ( media-video/mplayer )
jpeg? ( media-libs/jpeg )
gtk2? ( >=x11-libs/gtk+-2.0 )
!gtk2? ( =x11-libs/gtk+-1.2*
>=media-libs/gdk-pixbuf-0.16 )
mpeg? ( =media-libs/xine-lib-1* )
nls? ( sys-devel/gettext )"
|
The same goes for gthumb. |

I am also unable to read some jpeg pictures with gthumb 2.2.0 Pictures taken directly from my Sony DSC-P9 can not be viewed but pictures with have been resaved with some applications (gimp, photoshop, ...) can be displayed ! Note that The Gimp can open these pictures without problems !
Seems like gthumb does not support some jpeg formats !?
Has somebody the same problem ? |

Pervert
Anyway.
No idea why one should work and not the other. Check the USE flags that each of them wants.
Is version 2.0 unstable or anything like that? |

It's probably use flags considering Pornview 1.5 doesn't support the jpeg use flag and 2.0 does. |

Also you might try to re-emerge gtk+ with jpeg in the use. It might use it. |

Try using gqview. It's not developed as actively as it used to be, but it's a good program that I'm always surprised doesn't get more limelight. So is gqmpeg (mp3 player) _________________ Use saferdomainsearch.com to safely search for domain availability. |

gqview doesn't play videos. pornview is the best way to jump around between a bunch of different videos. I use gqview for images browsing though, it's certainly the best native linux app for that, although they're all annoying slow compared to compupic for windows. |
