I updated a couple of packages today and now bash complains about this missing library.
Now, since bas does not work I cannot reemerge readline or bash itself. But with out rebuilding readline/bash I cannot continue using the system ...
Kind of a bad situation here I gues ...
Any ideas apart from rebuilding from scratch?
thanks

Several things I can think of (assuming you don't have a binary package of bash you can install from): - try setting root's shell to /bin/sash or some other shell and try remerging libreadline and bash
- temporarily make /bin/sh run "/bin/bash --noediting", which should avoid the need for readline
- try extracting the necessary files in the bash and/or readline packages from a stage tarball
Hope you get it fixed soon! _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

thanks
the last one did the trick.
I bootet from an 1.2 CD and copied the bash on my gentoo partition
then a reboot, emerge bash and system runs fine again _________________ thanks
