Hi there!
I tried searching, but amazingly I was unable to find anything on this topic...

Since I rarely use OpenGL applications, I tried the new xserver. It works great (really), except for one thing: Refresh rate is stuck at 60 Hz no matter what I specify at the command line.

I use the Xvesa server. My graphics card is a GeForce 5900XT, and my screen normally goes up to 1600x1200 in 85 Hz with XFree86.

Of course, I tried xrandr but:
Code:
$ xrandr -r 85
X Error of failed request:  BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
  Major opcode of failed request:  139 (RANDR)
  Minor opcode of failed request:  2 (RRSetScreenConfig)
  Value in failed request:  0x55
  Serial number of failed request:  11
  Current serial number in output stream:  11

I could hack the xserver itself, but if someone else has already done this, why bother? ;-)

- Simon

Well i've never tried xserver but assuming that Xvesa gets its configs from the same place as the vesa fb you'll need the vesa-fb-hack patch for the kernel. You can then configure it to use the resolution/refresh you want.
Check out love-sources wich is afaik the only patchset that comes with the patch.
