|
|
hello
i have a macintosh g4 powerbook and want to install the gentoo distro, mac os x and mac os 9.
does anyone know what a good partitioning scheme for this setup would be?
in particular, i'm not clear about the following issues:
--does the gentoo boot volume have to be on a separate partition?
--how big should the gentoo boot, swap and root partitions be?
--do the gentoo partions need to be in a particular position in the overall partition scheme (i.e., the first partitions, the last partitions, etc.)?
thanks in advance for any help.
best regards

I am currently not running Gentoo on PPC, but I had the same setup you are describing. I had 120 Gb HD. I installed OS 9 first on 20 GB partition, then OS X on 20 GB partition, then installed gentoo on the rest (2 partitions, swap and /). I did not have a separate /boot partition. Generally, I make swap 2x amount of physical RAM. I hope this helps you. _________________ "Two things are infinite - the universe and human stupidity. And I am not sure about the universe." |
