I'm trying to install gentoo on a desktop for the first time, and I'm already trying to apply patches and worried about whether or not my video card will work with latest the kernel. What was the last good, stable kernel that worked well with nvidia, bootsplash and some of the other major issues people have been having? |

I use the latest gentoo-sources (2.4.25-gentoo) and all my hardware and software works fine (P4 with nvidia, using ALSA, KDE 3.2.1, ...) _________________ Registered linux user #341804

I went with ck-sources-2.6.4 - hopefully they'll work ok. IF not, I think I might have to step back to something in 2.4
Thanks for the replies. |

I'm using gentoo-dev-sources and I havn't had any problem with my NVIDIA card or my bootsplash. |

You will probably want to steer clear of the vanilla kernels since they don't have the extra bootsplash patches applied.
