(I posted this in the Portage forum Mar. 26, and got no responses, so I deleted it, and am reposting here).

Just tried to compile (upgrade) mplayer, and got the following errors:
Any ideas? I've also had 7-8 compile failures in the last few days, and I'm beginning to suspect I have a basic system problem, perhaps with gcc-3.3.3, and/or gtk+ 2.4, which I upgraded to recently. However, many other compiles go fine, so it's hard to tell what's going on here. Could it be just an unusual rash of broken ebuilds or sources in portage? This one really has me stumped, as the previous Mplayer (1.0_pre3) compiled fine, and works fine with kmplayer.

Could the problem have anything to do with Mplayer assigning athlon-4 for cflags, as I have athlon-xp, or that I have my kernel 2.6.5-rc2.mm1 source in my /home/wrc/kern/265rc directory, and don't use symlinks? The kernel source location has never affected any compile before.

Actually I only get 404-errors for the file ffmpeg-20040322.tar.bz2

EDIT: found file at
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo/distfiles/ffmpeg-20040322.tar.bz2

compiled flawlessly.
