this is from a text file i keep around to remind me how to do this:
compile kernel - agpgart & dri as modules
reboot - not sure if necessary
install radeon rpm (rpm -Uvh --nodeps --force fglr200-glc22-4.2.0-1.4.3.i586.rpm)
cd /lib/modules/fglr200/build_mod
./make.sh
cd /lib/modules/fglr200
./make_install.sh
fglrxconfig (save /etc/X11/XF86Config first, if there's anything valuable in it) - here, you're safe choosing most of the default values, make sure you know what type of mouse you have and the horizontal and vertical refresh rates for your monitor
startx, run glxgears and be happy! |

same problem to me, look with 'ls -l /usr/lib/libGL.so.1' it just points to a directory, not to the mesa opengl driver in this directory change the link the libmesagl.so (i don't know if is this the correct name because i don't have an X on my machine at work (win2k ) . if you don't get it, just write an i will look at home for the correct filenames. |

is /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.2 also a link or is it a real library?
/edit: at first try jules points then check the errormessages, look for the libraries if they are present inluding the symlinks. and don't forget opengl-update xfree |

Thanks for the info, I was having problems getting UT and Tux Racer running because it couldn't locate the libGL.so file, after reading this I found libGL.so in /usr/lib I copied the link from /usr/lib and put it into /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions and suddenly, bam, Tux Racer and UT ran like a champ, I'm suddenly very impressed with the accelleration speeds I got in Linux, I'm definitely a convert now when I started to hear that there was going to be a performance hit since I don't use Nvidia cards(ATI Radeon 7200 DDR) I was almost discouraged, however, after fixing my OpenGL problem, and seeing the dramatic speed increase in UT (Comparing Win32 Performance to Linux) I am definitely impressed. Once again, thanks for the Info it's helped me begin to fully appreciate the power of the Penguin. |
