|

I use fluxbox for various reasons and I've installed k3b to cater for my cd writing needs, but the default look it has is ugly imho. How can I change the way it looks considering I don't use KDE? _________________ moo |

The easiest way is to install kdebase and kdeartwork, then use kcontrol to write out kde config files. It's quite a bit of compilation, but at least you're not installing the whole of KDE. |

Does that mean I really only need the config file/s? If so, could I just boot my Knoppix CD, select the style I want and then copy the relevant files to my HDD? Sorry, I don't know much about KDE, I find it too complex for my needs, which is one of the reasons I love fluxbox ... simplicity. _________________ moo |

having the same problem but
qt config only works with qt-only apps.. not with kde-apps. |

However, you will need the relevant artwork installed (themes and icons) which are part of kdeartwork, else you will only have the ugly qt styles, (i.e. no Plastic, no Crystal). But kdeartwork depends on kdebase, at least to compile, so you will end up installing kdebase anyway. |

Yeah, qtconfig is only for Qt-apps ... and the styles are even more fugly than the default KDE style. Looks like I will just have to emerge kdeartwork. _________________ moo |

Did this work, I would like to know cos I am thinking of doing this too. If I could use the lila theme for Kde apps them I would be more than happy. |
