Reiser4 is back. Other than that, it's the same as the old love plus the new mm.

Enjoy!

EDIT: Hold off on downloading, forgot the 4k-stacks thing.

Has the superblock for Reiser4 stabilized yet? I'm afraid that I'll create a Reiser4 partition and then find that I have to recreate it because something's changed. Anyone know?

it should be safe - according to the Namesys guys they will start pushing the patches to Andrew Morton and his -mm tree if there are no serious bugs left in the next patchset. Since they ran out of ways to crash it they now need a bigger testing pool, hopefully -mm will provide just that.

There won't be anymore superblock magic number changes in reiser4. Also, forget this release ever happened. There's nothing to see here, move along folks.

Does this mean that I shouldn't try it if I've already got the ebuild? And if so, why?

Reiserfs is busted, so is reiser4 and anything else filesystem related. It might compile, but it definitely won't boot.

Ah. Definitely won't be using it then...I like my filesystems. I also like booting my kernels. :D

What a strange release. steel300 had me thinking he solved the blk_run_queues() problems (and possibly also issues with clean/dirty/whatever pages).

I know we like to get stuff out quick, but maybe a few hours to make sure stuff works would be a good idea sometimes.

Crayzy mofos!
I'm still stuck with 2.6.4-ck2 that one runs fine enough...
-mm4 still hangs on hotplug with udev here!

2.6.5-rc3 still has the hotplug issues as -rc2. Looking at the changelog indicates that a preliminary fix is in the works for at least the USB related trouble:

Code:
<greg@kroah.com>
[PATCH] USB: Eliminate wait following interface unregistration

This patch from Alan Stern <stern@rowland.harvard.edu> fixes a bug in
the current USB code that causes khubd to hang when a device is removed
from the system, thereby preventing any future USB device changes (like
adding or removing other devices) from happening.

Both Andrew and I can easily duplicate this bug against the current -bk
tree.

It's not a perfect fix, but it works for now, and I will spend the next
week working on restructuring the code so this is handled properly.

but it didn't help me in the least, modules still hung when trying to be unloaded (and it's not just limited to USB here either, my sound and sensor modules are affected too) and it still hung while trying to stop the hotplug service. I'm going to try -mm1 soon to see if that helps but I'm not optimistic it will.

edit: -mm1 doesn't work either.
