A Printer queue for Linux

Hi all,

I'm trying to convince my boss to change the old PCOUNTER terminals in school with linux machines. The problem is that there are many printing kiosks, the students send their print jobs to each printer queue and then go to the kiosk to release the print. Can CUPS or something similar do that?. The student has to release the print job AT the printer kiosk, so he can choose which paper to use, etcetera.
