Stage1 Install General Question

I'm not having a problem with my stage1 install (as of now, i'm bootstrapping it right now) but I was curious as to how big of an affect this had speed wise for users. I'm running the default make.conf for an athlonxp right now and i was curious on what people thought of it.

I can tell you from my experience that there was no noticable decrease between my first stage1 install and my recent stage3 install.

I too am using and AMD-XP, 1600
