This is what happens when I emerge gnome

I have tried deleting the gkai00mp.ttf.gz, emerge sync, and then redownloading it, but I still get this. I have even tried using different mirrors, but I have not come closer to a solution. Is there any way to either force it to install or should I just wait til the ebuild is fixed.

The ebuilds should be ok, it's more likely the files get corrupted when downloading. Try using wget (edit your make.conf) rather than the default download method; don't use prozilla at least for the present. Also it's a good idea to try some more mirrors.
