wine kazaalite

i get this error when i try to run kazaalite under wine. the program runs fine but it wont connect.

WARNING: Trying to use ICMP (network ping) will fail unless running as root

Now my first assumption is that it not being able to ping is the reason it cannot connect. So i would think this is something within linux, a permission issue. Is there some way to set this so I can ping outside root? I dont want to run kazaa in a root position. it makes me nervous. I am not running a firewall, but i am running through a router.
any advice on how to fix this?

side note gift wont really connect either. it produces search results but no downloads, everything gets disconnected

It connects fine for me as a non-root user. Have you installed it according to the instructions at this site - http://franksworld.net/wine/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=134&page=1 ?

go to frankscorner.org, then go go internet (on the left) and then installing kazaa lite)
