|
|
Since the start I use a modified /etc/X11/Xmodmap to assign the eurosign to [ALT GR] 5 () and to assign some special characters in Dutch to some [ALT GR]+ key (ëèéï,etc.).
I notices that Gnome 2.6 works different and doesn't accept my Xmodmap. I've solved the special characters by assigning a modifier key in the keyboard preference [Modifier Key] + [e] + ['] gives é, so that is no problem.
Does somebody has some advise how I can assign the euro sign to some key on a intl. U.S. keyboard which displays the on the key with [5]? |

Same problem here. I have to use a Xmodmap to map my PowerBook keyboard to a Swiss German layout (seems to be an unusual combination ...).
I guess if we are able to add our Xmodmap to the list of available layouts in the Gnome Keyboard Preferences, we win
But how?
BTW, if I want to change to another layout I get this:
----
Error activating XKB configuration.
Probably internal X server problem.
X server version data:
Gentoo Linux (XFree86 4.3.0, revision r3)
40300000
If you report this situation as a bug, please include:
- The result of xprop -root | grep XKB
- The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb
---
Any ideas? Thanks!

Nobody? It's annoying to get that Gnome error every time it starts up (otherwise everything is working).
I can't believe no other person is forced to use xmodmap! Can I tell xkb to use a xmodamp file? Basically if I do a
$ gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb
layouts = []
model = macintosh
overrideSettings = false
options = []
I'd like to have a layout in there. But of course no xkb layout exists for my configuration!
Help! I'm totally lost here BTW, is this related to this bug?
