|
|
We currently use WinVNC to connect between M$ boxes and with a Nix box. But I have reason to believe that across the net, this is not secure as some very bizarre things have begun to happen to session passwords and missing items.
Does anyone have any other connecting client/server approach for M$ and Nix boxes or even, (dare I say it), M$ to M$? thx. J |

Not only do you have reason to believe - VNC states specifically that the RFB protocol is not secure.
No encryption, no C/R on connect - just a plaintext password sent from client to server.
So you must have missed that
For MS to MS - that's built-in since XP.
As for security - that's anybody's guess of course... _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

Well there is that, but I have just been reading up on the VNC website about their "secure version" which uses SSH. I already have established a SSH connection to route Samba over the net so that I can map drives across the two. So I was wanting to use this Tunnel to send traffic over for VNC or some equivilant; if you can recommend something. |

You can tunnel VNC over SSH yourself - don't need a special "version" for that.
You may have to use something like Cygwin on the MS side, though. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /
