I have a strong 2.6.3 kernel compiled. Support for everything; usb kb/mouse (hot pluggable), nv driver rotates, longrun, acpi, etc. It's awesome, light weight and fast. However, the fpi2002 module fails w/ Invalid module format every time a modprobe fpi2002. I can assure you I have compiled locally. In addition I enabled Module versioning support (Exp) in my kernel and it still fails. After sifting through the limited internet docs on this project, chatting with folks on freenode about it & trying to troubleshoot down to the serial port I am at a loss. So, I downloaded 2.4.20, which I believe the module was built for, and compiled it. When I attempted to compile the module under 2.4.20 it warns unresolved symbols. The module does load, but there are not /dev/ttySx devices. So it is obvious that none of my setserial commands are effective.

I'm using gentoo linux and feel moderately confident with my technical abilities. I suppose the question is there something obvious I may need to load in the kernel for this module to work? Or the question behind the question, is there a more recent driver that works with a 2.6 kernel.

I've gotten the fpi2002 driver to successfully compile, but it won't modprobe. modprobe complains about unknown symbols "sti" and "cli", which apparently are the old spinlock routines (or somesuch...it's late).

So, until someone steps up and updates the driver for 2.6, it ain't gonna happen. I've thought of doing it myself, but haven't found the time to invest in it.

Now I need to get the Atmel drivers compiling and working under 2.6....
