|
|
Hello,
I was reading the Hardware 3D Acceleration Guide, and would like a clarification on the following statement:
Quote: | Since the 2.4 kernels' Direct Rendering Manager (DRM) doesn't support XFree 4.3, the xfree-drm package is needed. If you're using a 2.6 kernel, its DRM supports XFree 4.3; Gentoo's XFree-DRM package is not yet working on 2.6 kernels. |
My interpretation of this is "xfree-drm is for 2.4 kernel users only. Do not use this if you are a 2.6 kernel user". Is this an accurate interpretation?

yes.
If you don't believe me, try it it won't even build against your 2.6 kernel. And for those who upgrade from 2.4 to 2.6 you should probably unmerge the package so it doesn't try to update it next time you emerge -u world. _________________ One by one the penguins steal my sanity |
