|

Hi,
I have X and KDE installed then I wanted to install Gnome. So I emerge gnome and waited for a while...
I restarted X server and log with gnome. I only see the icons on my desktop not the text like my home directory, trash, start here...
Same thing if I start Nautilus; I only see the directories icons...
I modified my XF86Config to ba able to use true types fonts with xfs server. Dont know if the problem is maybe there..?
Any help or explanation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. |

I have/had, sorta the same problem, i solved the problem with text not showing up below the icons on the desktop by switching the nautilus font (I think) to georgia). But I still cant get text to show up in the browser side-bar ( |

I had the same problem when I emerged Gnome on a fresh Gentoo install (it had never happened before though). I opened Nautilus, went to the configuration, and changed the default font. Problem solved. Not a complete fix, but I like the new font better anyway. |
