upgrading courier-imap from 2.1.2-r1 to 3.0.2

Hey everyone. I checked on the updates for my Gentoo server and noticed that it's asking me to upgrade Courier-imap from 2.1.2-r1 to 3.0.2. I simply want to know if, for reasons of both stability and security, if I should upgrade, or if the 2.x branch is more developed and more secure (I know little about the development of Courier, so I don't know what I should do.) Also, from 2.x to 3.x is a big jump, so what kind of configuration changes am I going to have to expect? I have to keep things running as smoothly as possible with as little downtime as possible. I have others users who rely on my server for mail. Thanks in advance

There's not much of a config change really. I think the main reason for the version jump is that ACL support is now in and working

The upgrade went fine for me (I'm using the setup described in the Virtual Mailhost Guide).

I did the upgrade and restarted and all was fine. I just rebooted my box after a couple of weeks of running and now my IMAP tell me by username or password is wrong. Vpop is still running fine. Any ideas?
