I have searched the forums and have found some people with similiar problems, but none of the solutions seemed to help. I am currently using kde 3.2.1 and have been for sometime with no incident, but recently I did an emerge -u world and this then started occuring. I have removed all of kde 3.1.5 and I even reinstalled kde 3.2.1 and sitll no go. I am currently using the
Nvidia kernel 1.0.4496-r3
kernel 2.6.2
Xfree 4.3.0-r5
kde 3.2.1
there is nothing strange in xfree's log or kdm's log so I am really stumped, any help would be huge...

I have also found this pretty interesting if I load KDM manually after it bombs out, I can close sessiosn without a problem.....the system loads kdm up just fine in this case...

Ok, this problem actually doesn't exist if I use gdm (after some other small modifications to fix the sound problem). I guess this is a sign, although I would like to find out why kdm decided to start sucking.....

Ok, I don't know whether to be happy or mad, but the problem still exists with GDM....so nothing is solved.....
