Hello all,

Trying to trouble shoot email server set up. Followed the virtual host set up, while also looking at bunch of other lists.

1. I can use mutt locally to send and receive mail to the local account there. I''m a little confused, as that I can do this whether my local account is listed in mysql table mailsql.users or not.

Regardless, at this point, I'm trying to start by connecting a client (Kmail) from another box to first try to send smtp mail. For the login name I've tried both userid and userid@domain.com.

I had had trouble with my SSL certs, but, I believe I have that worked out, it appears to be working with those just fine.

However, in my logs...I get this (and mind you, I have ONLY ONE user listed in the mailsql.users table...there can BE no more rows returned no matter what query you throw at it).

The error is :

Apr 3 20:44:54 <server> postfix/smtpd[728]: SSL_accept:SSLv3 flush data
Apr 3 20:44:54 <server> postfix/smtpd[728]: TLS connection established from <clients_server> [192.168.0.100]: TLSv1 with cipher RC4-MD5 (128/128 bits)
Apr 3 20:44:54 <server> saslauthd[18478]: pam_mysql: select returned more than one result
Apr 3 20:44:54 <server> saslauthd[18478]: DEBUG: auth_pam: pam_authenticate failed: Permission denied
Apr 3 20:44:54 <server> saslauthd[18478]: do_auth : auth failure: [user=userid] [service=smtp] [realm=xxx.com] [mech=pam] [reason=PAM auth error]
Apr 3 20:44:54 <server> postfix/smtpd[728]: warning: <clients_server>[192.168.x.x]: SASL LOGIN authentication failed
Apr 3 20:44:55 <server> postfix/smtpd[728]: disconnect from <clients_server>[192.168.0.100]

I've only been able to come across a very posts from other's with this type error...and don't see any resolutions for them...except for one guy who gave up on postfix. I really want to solve this.

I'm on sparc64, Ultra2 box. I have

postfix - 2.0.16-r1
cyrus-sasl-2.1.18
openssh-3.7.1_p2-r2
procmail-3.22-r6
courier-imap-2.1.2-r1

I'm still looking, but, running out of possibilities...
:-(

Any suggestions or links greatly appreciated!!

Of course...after posting...I find a way.

I downgraded my cyrus-sasl to the 2.1.14 version. I don't know if this is sparc related or not, but, I had to play with emerging and unmerging mit-krb5 and mess with + and - kerberos in the USE flags...but, finally got it to compile...and it seems to work.

I also had to change a -H to a -O flag in the /etc/conf.d/saslauthd file,
restart everything...and it came to life.

This is all based on the virtual host howto...

Maybe this will help someone else.

Now, on to bigger and better problems.

Would you mind posting your /etc/conf.d/saslauthd please?

I'm having the same problem, and dowgrading cyrus-sasl isn't helping.
